The Revolt of the Daoi
Dismayed by the loss of much their land many of the Vettii returned to the veneration of Crom Cruach and began to worship the Lords of Chaos. From these tribes came their great Vettii champion known to the natives of Moidel as Daoi or “the wicked one”. He was a necromancer of immense power and turned his minions against the Knights of Donblas. Loss after loss followed, with the Knights being forced to confront their slain comrades as newly animated undead. Within a short span of years Daoi had forced the Knights back to the island of Moidel.
The Margravate was in danger of collapse. Without access to the interior there was neither metal for trade nor enough food to supply the castle and town which had grown around it. A desperate call for help back to the old country was made that winter. The city of Moidel itself was the only piece of the Margravate not in the hands of the Daoi and his allies.
The call was answered by a large contingent of followers of the Goddess Mirath. The creation of so many undead had infuriated Mirath and she commanded her followers to make war on the Necromancer who was robbing her of the dead.
A great battle in the Moor of Pines destroyed the Necromancers Army. Most people think he was killed that day by a Knight of Donblas. Others say he fled north into the long forest biding his time until he can retake Moidel and remove the forces of Law from this land.
Currently a truce holds between the Margravate and the Vettii tribes. Refugees have fled to Oban and Moidel. Tara, the mining town of Glen Morangie, and most of the other northern settlements have been destroyed. Masterless undead wander aimlessly around the ruins at night...
